About the owners
Betsy and Richard met in 2004, married on Valentine's Day, 2006, and began new careers at Gentry's in August 2006. Betsy loves clothes and consignment shopping and Richard is the perfect partner as he thrives on figuring out the intricacies of the business and consignment software. They both enjoy interacting with customers and consignors and find it satisfying to help women dress well for less...in a boutique atmosphere.
About Gentry’s
Gentry’s Consignment has been in Newburyport for 20 years. Rumor has it the first owner named the store after her horse “Gentry.” The geraniums to the left of the store entrance belonged to the original owner and have been passed down to each new owner. Betsy and Richard are the 4th owners.
They added a computerized inventory/sales system to facilitate the consignment process and made substantial changes to the store to better serve shoppers and consignors.
